The rise of self managing organisations



A series in which is being explained how Spotify works with self managing teams.

What is it?

The series is called ‘Spotify Engineering Culture’. But don’t let that put you off if you are not a coder, because it is a must see for everyone interested in new or different ways of working.

Why is it interesting?

There is a growing belief that the top down structure for companies is not the best way of working. The bigger companies grow, the slower they become. Self-managing teams are seen as a solution to that problem. At Spotify, a company with in the region of 3.000 employees, they work with small self-managing teams. The company focusses on motivation, community and trust rather than structure and control. And it works!
